About the Company

Medafor, Inc. was founded in 1999 to develop and market an innovative breakthrough in hemostatic technology based on engineered biopolymeric microporous particles later termed and patented as Microporous Polysaccharide Hemospheres (MPH). Medafor has been based in Minneapolis, Minnesota since its incorporation in 1999. Early in its history, Medafor developed OTC, Military and pre-hospital EMT products under various product names. Marketing efforts were focused on this secondary medical market for most of the next decade, but it was determined sales of MPH would not realize the true potential of this novel hemostatic device unless MPH was developed for use in the surgical market.

In 2005, the Board hired and placed the current management team who was rich in experience related to gaining product approvals with the FDA and launching a new technologies to the surgical marketplace. In September 2006, Medafor received FDA approval for ARISTAAHTM for use in surgical applications. With a renewed sense of direction the new management team proceeded to launch MPH (now marketed as "AristaMPH") to every major hemostatic market in the world including the United States, China and Japan. Currently, Medafor has a growing team of over 120 independent sales representatives in the United States and an equally impressive distribution network in Europe, China and Japan.

Millenium Research Projects concluded that the US surgical hemostat market will reach $500 million and the worldwide market will approach $1 Billion in 2010. Medafor is well positioned in a market dominated by animal and/or human based thrombin hemostats and is considered the premier plant based novel hemostat. Additionally, because of its low unit cost, inherent safety, stability, ease of use, long shelf life and superior hemostatic qualities, Medafor believes this technology could capture a significant portion of the hemostat market and redefine hemostasis patients and surgeons alike.
